Nile University proudly served as the host for the most recent edition of the Fanni Mobtakr Competition, Egypt’s premier national platform dedicated to highlighting the ingenuity and talents of students from Technical Schools and Applied Technology Schools nationwide. This dynamic event brought together aspiring innovators to demonstrate their problem-solving skills through hands-on projects, fostering a bridge between education and real-world application.
The competition culminated in an intense final round where ten exceptional teams showcased their prototypes before a panel of distinguished judges. Each team was allotted just five minutes to deliver a compelling pitch, followed by seven minutes of direct questioning from the jury. This format not only tested technical proficiency but also honed essential skills in communication and resilience under pressure.
The judging panel comprised an elite group of leaders spanning academia, industry, and the innovation ecosystem. Chaired by Ahmed Saleh, Director of the Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Competitiveness Centre (IECC) at Nile University, the panel included:
- Prof. Mahmoud Tantawy, Director General of State Appreciation Awards and Supervisor of Graduation Projects at the Academy of Scientific Research & Technology;
- Dr. Mohamed Magdy El Araby, Chief Technology Officer of El Araby Group;
- Mohamed Aboud, Founder and Chairman of the International Company for Innovation & Entrepreneurship and Vice President of IEEE TEMS;
- Dr. Nagwa El Sayed, Head of the Science, Research & Innovation Sector at Misr El Kheir Foundation; and
- Dr. Amr Soliman, Co-Founder and Senior Expert in Entrepreneurship at Galaxy for Development.
These experts evaluated projects based on criteria such as innovation, feasibility, teamwork, and potential societal impact, ensuring a comprehensive assessment that aligns with Egypt’s broader goals for youth empowerment and technical advancement.
The Closing Ceremony marked a celebratory highlight, where Ahmed Saleh delivered a keynote speech underscoring the transformative power of initiatives like Fanni Mobtakr. “Competitions like this play a vital role in empowering our youth and bridging the gap between technical education and practical innovation,” Saleh emphasized, highlighting how such platforms cultivate the next generation of problem-solvers equipped to tackle national challenges.
Saleh was joined by key partners from Misr El Kheir Foundation, IdeaSpace, and Galaxy for Development to present the awards. With a generous total prize pool of 310,000 EGP, the competition honored outstanding achievements across diverse categories, including Best Prototype, Best Presentation, Best Teamwork, and Audience Choice. Winners from both Technical Schools and Applied Technology Schools secured first, second, and third places, with prizes ranging from 20,000 to 70,000 EGP per team, providing crucial support for further development and education.
This edition of Fanni Mobtakr not only celebrated individual and team accomplishments but also reinforced collaborative efforts to nurture Egypt’s innovation pipeline, inspiring participants to continue driving positive change.
