A construction-tech entrepreneurship bootcamp and competition for Egypt's most ambitious engineering, architecture, and technology students.
ConstructX is where Egypt's next generation of construction innovators get built. It's not a hackathon. It's not a lecture series. It's a guided entrepreneurship experience — from idea to prototype to pitch — powered by real industry challenges from EDECS, one of the region's leading construction and infrastructure companies.
Over five intensive days, selected teams work alongside mentors and industry experts to develop solutions that can actually be deployed. The best teams walk away with cash prizes, industry recognition, and the chance to pilot their solutions with EDECS.
Organized by the Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Competitiveness Center (IECC) at Nile University in partnership with EDECS Foundation for Sustainable Development.
A bootcamp covering everything from entrepreneurship fundamentals and design thinking to market research, business modeling, and pitching. You'll leave with skills that go far beyond this competition.
Develop real prototypes and pilot plans grounded in actual construction industry workflows. No theoretical exercises — EDECS-realistic problems, EDECS-realistic solutions.
Present your solution to an expert jury for cash prizes totaling 150,000 EGP. Top teams may be offered pilot opportunities with EDECS to bring their ideas to life.
Each track addresses a high-impact area where the construction industry needs fresh thinking. Choose the one that matches your skills and curiosity.
Millions of tons of construction waste are generated every year in Egypt — concrete, wood, gypsum, steel offcuts, packaging. Most of it ends up in landfills. This track challenges you to rethink the entire waste lifecycle: from measurement and sorting to recycling, material reuse, and innovative logistics models. If you can turn waste into value, this is your track.
Egypt's cities are growing faster than their infrastructure can keep up. This track tackles the systems that make cities work: energy management, water and waste monitoring, traffic flow, environmental sensing, and data-driven urban planning. If you think in systems, sensors, and software — and you want to make cities smarter from the ground up — this is where you belong.
Delays, cost overruns, and resource waste are the construction industry's biggest headaches. This track is about fixing them. Think: digital planning and scheduling tools, on-site automation, BIM-powered project management, and techniques that reduce errors before they happen. If you want to make construction faster, cheaper, and smarter, start here.
Prizes are awarded per track — every track has its own 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
The competition goes live. Register your team and tell us about your idea (or join without one — we'll help you find the right problem).
Deadline for all submissions. No extensions, no exceptions. Apply early — space is limited.
Our team reviews every application. Selected teams are notified by email. This is a competitive process — we're looking for the strongest teams across all three tracks.
A 4-hour session delivered by Nile University's Civil Engineering faculty. Selected teams get an exclusive deep dive into the real gaps, problems, and market opportunities for each track. This is where your bootcamp preparation begins.
Five days of intensive training, building, and mentorship. Entrepreneurship fundamentals, design thinking, market research, business modeling, pitching — and hands-on time to build your prototype. The bootcamp is also the preliminary round to select finalists.
Finalists pitch to an expert jury. Winners are announced. Prizes are awarded. The best ideas get a shot at becoming real with EDECS.
If you're an engineering, architecture, CS, or business student in Egypt and you've ever looked at a construction site and thought "there has to be a better way" — yes, this is for you.
You're a university student (3rd year or above) or a fresh graduate (0–2 years out).
You're studying or trained in engineering, architecture, computer science, business, or a related field.
You have a team of 3–5 members. Multidisciplinary teams are strongest.
You're available for the full bootcamp (May 3–7, Nile University campus). Attendance is mandatory for all members.
You can register as an individual. We'll add you to our waiting list and match you with a team if spots open up. But your best bet is to find teammates before applying — teams are always prioritized.
That's perfectly fine. Register your team and select your preferred track. If you're selected, you'll attend an exclusive industry briefing where Nile University professors walk you through the real problems and opportunities in each track. You'll find your idea there.
